Beijing opens Artificial Intelligence Park

November 1st saw the Chinese capital officially open its Artificial Intelligence Park. The park allows members of the public to explore several innovative features which were designed by Chinese tech titan, Baidu. Highlights range from autonomous shuttle buses and augmented reality Tai Chi classes to a smart path that monitors a person’s footsteps through sophisticated facial recognition technology. The opening of the park coincided with the Baidu World Technology Conference, where the company announced its ambitions of getting involved in smart city design. Baidu’s relevant plans involve pilot projects in Beijing and Shanghai which will test various AI technologies to ameliorate urban management.
